When joining CARS.com as a principal designer, I was tasked with updating the design language look and feel, with a focus on the mobile side. Utilizing the current color palette, I went for a more simplified yet "gamified" approach to designs. This direction was taken after talking with dealers and customers directly, along with multiple surveys of current and former Cars customers.

Not long after joining Cars, I started noticing a lot of repetitive work going on across the organization that was not only duplicative in nature but did not follow along with the same or similar guidelines when it came to UX design structure. Much of this was due to legacy issues from companies being brought under the Cars Commerce. But a lot of it was just due to leadership not having the time to see where the overlap across the verticals originated from. 

I took it upon myself to research all of the orgs across the company and find where they overlapped. I then dropped all of that into a Figma file and built a 10,000-view of the company that was fully interactive, and let leadership from each vertical easily see where the overlap was, and find solutions to simplify the duplicated tasks.
